  1. I read your critic on illaiah's book.

there is a little confusion as to understand that the above was your own comment or illaiah's. Haven't I said the same in my response to your posting on shariah?

I was reading your 2003 review of Kancha Illiah’s book

I was stunned to see that you have endorsed the venom spewed by Illiah on the lifestyle of certain caste groups

Is it any different from the generalization by hardened VHP fanatics and lunatic Hindu fringe of Muslims as Jihadi-supporting, uncouth, unclean, unhygienic criminals/terrorist

How can any work which has got even the remotest pretensions of being scholarly indulge in this type of bigotry?

Eating habits and Physical regiments are personal choices of individuals. How can someone even make such a scathing comment and get away with it.

How can any community/caste group be viewed as homogenous whole and sweepingly derogatory generalisation made about them.If it is made, its nothing but
    fascism/nazism

I have read a similar article by Chandraprasad Bhans a excellent Dalit Scholar in which he had written on the need for dalit Society to participate in the liberalization process .In that article he had made a excellent case saying Dalit will make excellent consumer compared to the others. He compared the lifestyle of Dalist with other groups including Brahmins/Banias.But he never made the kind of sweeping statements that Illiah makes.Bhan used statistics on the consumptions pattern and made his case

Badri –don’t promote shoddy scholarship that is basically hatred and bigotry

I was under the impression that you are progressive liberal but alas this has been shattered

  4. Hi Badri,
Thank you for the link.I would like to agree with Mr, Shastri.

I didn't read the book ,From what I read on that review..

I feel pity for what he went through...what was time era I don't know.I lived in a village in 1970's and lived in a town in from middle of seventies to late 80's and then in city.I have travelled to some of the interior parts of Tamil nadu during summer vacations and have lived in a village in maharashtra for one year in early 90's.Is it that I lived in a good place all along I didn't come across these kind of things.....possible or things might have developed as we are evolving........

Defnitely this is not material related to Hinduism. He could have written this under a biographical category rather then associating his life to some religion which he has never understood, he has never followed or he has practised. He is going a step ahead to develop hatredness among the people , which is not really healthy for a highly diversified country.

Just because some one can Talk effectively , write effectively , argue intelligently , Market in a sexy way doesn't mean what he is saying is true.Truth can never be Changed...

Also I don't understand why we shouldn't have a common law, in what way it is going to effect the individuals freedom. Is there any other country , which has this kind of constitution....

    with best
